The Meaning of Caring Concept

Abstract
This study intended to find out the meaning of caring concept considered Korean view point, which will be basic work for Korean Nursing Practice. For that the open-ended interviews were taken with forty persons from the age of 20 to 60 about what they think of the concept of caring.
The contents of the interviews were analyzed by Ethnoscientific approach.
As a result, the Korean Concepts of caring were classified into ten categories-Love, help, understanding, concern, warm h, support, fulfillment, comfort, recovery from illness and others.
In Comparing With caring constructs with Leininger had made through the research of various cultures, the Korean Concepts of Caring appeared to be similar to them, but warmth, fulfillment were unique to Korea.
It is important to catch the meaning of caring concepts in the social and cultural contexts to fix Korean nursing practive in the time when all human behaviors were culturally reconsidered.
But higher qualitative research to the process and behavior of caring should be done from now on.
